Athens Culture Net is the city’s first collaborative network of cultural organizations, providing a forum for arts leaders to build relationships, share resources, and develop joint programming across Athens. Athens Culture Net was founded on the belief that collaboration is the key to the long-term success of any cultural community. By bringing together the leaders of Athens’ diverse and vibrant institutions, along with the artistic groups and collectives, we hope to build a united and resilient creative sector and increase access to quality cultural programming in all neighborhoods.
Founded in 2016 by the Municipality of Athens, with support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Athens Culture Net has grown to include 55 member institutions, ranging in size, discipline, and audience base, with each bringing its own diverse perspective and valuable experience to the table.
Together, we have developed a diverse array of programming and resources – producing cultural events, hosting best practice workshops, administering public surveys of cultural participation, and incorporating members’ activities into citywide promotional campaigns. The network brings together the Municipality, member institutions, and the cultural community at large, so that, together, we can create a collective vision for the future of Athens’ creative sector.
In just a few days a new year begins – a new decade actually- and we're ready for the opportunities and challenges ahead! Ready to embrace and create something new, working as always collectively! Via Athens Culture Net we have the pleasure of collaborating firmly with nearly 100 cultural institutions and organizations which actively respond to the challenges of our time. Together we intent to establish culture as part of city's everyday life, let it become the link that connects and includes all of its residents and create the commonplace that allow us to dream.
In this vibrant city we want you all with us!
Kostas Bakoyannis, Mayor of Athens
